In the Juniors, all girls have a form tutor who works to nurture a child’s identity and security. It is the form tutors who are primarily responsible for the pastoral wellbeing of each child, and it is their happy task to ensure that each girl has a secure base from which to grow and develop.
As the girls progress through the school, the number of subject specialist teachers increases, and so by the time they reach Year 6 almost all subjects, such as English, mathematics, science, modern foreign languages, music, drama, art and PE, are taught by specialist teachers. Furthermore, we offer specialist rooms and equipment in science, information and communication technology (ICT), music and art, with a host of curricular resources for all subjects. Our children and their progress is at the heart of what we do. Bowdon Prep staff are highly skilled and motivated to provide the best education they can, and therefore to encourage learning at every opportunity through the day.
At Bowdon Prep we incorporate a variety of teaching methods to ensure that teaching is engaging and that learning is tailored to need.
Entry to Bowdon Preparatory School for Girls
Parents are encouraged to make an appointment with the Headmistress, when they can tour the school and get an insight into life at Bowdon Prep. For girls wishing to join us in Juniors, there is a formal entrance assessment and we will also request a comprehensive report from their current school. This will help parents to make an informed decision about whether Bowdon Prep is the appropriate choice for their daughter.
Prior to entry, registered girls are invited to complete a transition activity booklet and to attend a taster day. This will give them the opportunity to meet the other girls and experience the school, and get a feel for our unique and very special family atmosphere.
Please contact the school office and speak to our Admissions Officer, Mrs Sharkey on 0161 928 0678.
