Remembrance

11th November 2016

Year 6 led a special assembly about the symbolism of the poppy and remembrance. Their rendition of “In Flanders Field” was very moving. The pupils, staff and parents in the audience were interested to hear about Harry Patch, the last fighting Tommy, who died in 2009 at the grand old age of 111 years, 1 month, 1 week and 1 day.

At 11am on 11 November, the Year 6 and Year 3 girls recited Dr John McRae’s poem in the payground in front of the whole school. We all listened to Mr Gandee play “The Last Post” before observing two minutes silence.
