Welcome to Prep
The family atmosphere within the school is created by friendly welcoming staff, and lively happy children. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the life of the school and work in partnership with teachers and staff.
The Prep department comprises Infants (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, for 4–7 year olds) and Juniors (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, for 7–11 year olds).
The girls are taught in small classes. In Infants, this is mainly by the form teacher, with support from teaching assistants. In Juniors, the girls also benefit from lessons with subject specialist teachers.
We provide excellent wraparound care, with drop-off from 7.30am and pick-up at 6.00pm.
The school has a strong focus on personal and social development, with high expectations of manners, behaviour and respect for one another. Children are looked after by their form teacher, with time set aside in form period and in personal, social and health education (PSHE) lessons to ensure that children acquire key social and personal skills. The spiritual, moral and cultural development of the girls is embedded in the curriculum, and is also developed through assemblies, activities and other opportunities. Christian values and principles underpin everything we do at the school, and we welcome children, parents and staff of all faiths and those of no faith.
The broad education offered by the curriculum and co-curriculum at Bowdon Prep enables us to bring out the best in each girl.
