Achieving Success

Achieving Success

At Bowdon Prep we believe in rewarding effort, recognising achievement, and encouraging pupils to aspire to exceed our expectations. Rewards are a very powerful tool for use by teachers and staff.

Our reward systems encourage all girls to aspire to high standards in everything they do. At every opportunity we celebrate the successes, progress and improvements shown by the pupils. Our weekly celebration assemblies focus on celebration and reward. Each half-term we publish a school newsletter that recognises and celebrates the achievements of individuals and teams.

The House System

The house system embraces this aspect of celebration. In Prep, house points are awarded as a reward to reinforce expectations of good behaviour and work. They are awarded for achievements in sport and work, and weekly tallies of house points are announced in assembly. House events take place throughout the year, and they are many and varied – from charitable cake sales to special house assemblies. The house system creates a sense of belonging among pupils and staff. We take all achievements into account when presenting the Bowdon Prep House Cup to the house with most points at the end of the school year.

Merit Awards

Merit awards are used throughout Prep as rewards for spontaneous good behaviour, tidiness, organisation and effort.
